Role of cooperatives in the socio economic development of Ethiopian people

One of the  trainings administered under the college was  focused on the role of cooperatives to solve socio economic and cultural problems of people.   This was the base for the proposal and it was managed by a group of five employees from cooperative department. A total of 100 cooperative organization experts from all the 17 Woredas of East Wollega Zone have participated in the training which took place for two days. The training content included the basic principles underlying cooperative organizations, the management of cooperative organizations and the financial liquidity of the enterprises. Experts in areas of marketing, organizing, finance and management attended the training from consumer cooperatives,  unions and cooperative promotion bureaus. The feedback was the following:

  • As regards to the training relevance, they said that they have never attended such well organized training in areas of cooperatives.

  • they have also said cooperative organizations are mostly occupied by unprofessional experts who do not know the issue of cooperatives separately from other business sectors ; hence such training is frequently needed to equip workers of the enterprises with the basic knowledge and skill needed to manage cooperatives

  • the Training should not have to be limited to East Wollega Zone, but need to address all other woredas in the remaining Wollega zones

  • Regarding the training content they were glad that they learned something new.
